Tech Prep Academy  

All Juniors who fit entrance requirements can apply for the Health, Legal or IT Academies at GCC.  This a program that takes place during the students' Senior Year.  More information regarding entrance is below.

 

Health Academy

To qualify a student must meet the following:

  • Have met graduation requirements up to the point they begin participating in the program
  • Have completed Chemistry with a 75 or better
  • Have maintained an 80 or above average
  • Have demonstrated maturity and the ability to work both independently and in teams
  • Have demonstrated positive attendance patterns
  • Have demonstrated good health habits
  • Have demonstrated good communications skills; i.e. reading, writing, speaking and listening

Application Requirements:

  1. Personal Information Form
  2. Letter of Intent
  3. 2 Letters of Reccomendation
  4. Counselor Reccomendation Form

DEADLINE: LAST WEEK OF MARCH

 

Legal Academy

To qualify a student must meet the following:

  • Have met graduation requirements up to the point they begin participating in the program
  • Have maintained an 80 or above average
  • Have demonstrated maturity and the ability to work both independently and in teams
  • Have demonstrated positive attendance patterns
  • Have demonstrated good health habits
  • Have demonstrated good communications skills; i.e. reading, writing, speaking and listening

Application Requirements:

  1. Personal Information Form
  2. Letter of Intent
  3. 2 Letters of Reccomendation and Reccomendation Forms: 1 from a current Social Studies or English Teacher and 1 from another adults that knows you well (i.e. teacher, coach, employer
  4. Counselor Reccomendation Form

DEADLINE: LAST WEEK OF MARCH

 

Information Technology Academy

To qualify a student must meet the following:

  • Have met graduation requirements up to the point they begin participating in the program
  • Demonstrated strong technology skills with a basic knowledge of computer operating systems
  • Successfully completed two units of math with an 85 average in each class
  • Maintained a B overall average
  • Have demonstrated maturity and the ability to work both independently and in teams
  • Have demonstrated excellent attendance patterns
  • Have demonstrated good communications skills; i.e. reading, writing, speaking and listening

Application Requirements:

  1. Personal Information Form
  2. Letter of Intent
  3. 2 Letters of Reccomendation
  4. Counselor Reccomendation Form
