Services Provided by the Center
  • Competitive Professional Opportunity Funding - Awards of a maximum of $1,000 are provided for the development of materials, programs and projects within a school building, which are later available in the Center's Library.  Funding up to $500 is available for teachers in individual classrooms.

 

  • Computer Training - Classes are offered that provide training in an awareness of computer technology.

 

  • Equipment Loan - available for loan are digital cameras, bookbinders, video cameras and palm pilots.

 

  • Other Resources Available - Ellison cutouts, poster makers and laminator.

 

  • Networks Meetings - Sessions for teachers from content and grade levels are provided with the purpose of the exchange of ideas and materials.

 

  • Staff Development Workshops - Ongoing in-service training as well as awareness and enrichment programs are offered to teachers based on teacher requests and needs.

 

  • Newsletter - A quarterly newsletter disseminates items of local interest, research articles, and notices of professional opportunities.

 

  • Professional Library - Over 800 books are available for loan, as are instructional videotapes.

 

  • Information and Services - An attempt is made to meet teachers' needs through individual requests for information and/or services.  The Director is a member of the New York State Leadership Academy, the New York State Higher Education Committee, Genesee Valley BOCES School Improvement Team, the Greater Rochester Teacher Center Network, so the Center is a clearing-house for professional development opportunities.

 

  • Personal Growth - Workshops in the areas of personal growth and stress management recognize the need to nurture the human nature of the educator.

 

  • Scholarships - Teachers may attend regional staff development workshops with financial aid from the Center.
