Overview

  • The Attica Central School Board of Education is a separate body responsible for the oversight and management of the Attica Central School District's business, personnel, and properties.

The Attica Board of Education conducts itself under the provisions established under the Education of New York and the NYS Board of Regents.

As the corporate body, the Attica Board of Education is designated as the official policy-making body for the district.   The Board of Education can only make decisions when a properly convened meeting has been called and a quorum of at least four members of the official seven have convened to conduct official school business.

The Attica Central School district Board of Education has seven members that are elected to three year terms.  The terms are staggered so that the Board of Education will not have a complete turn over of membership at one time.

Board of Education seats are completely voluntary and the members serve without compensation.  Board of Education elections are held on the third Tuesday of May, along with the annual budget vote.  Individuals interested in running for the Board of Education must meet the qualifications set forth in education law.
