Hall Of Fame Inductees for 2013

Five alumni and one team were the 2013 inductees to the Attica Central School Hall of Fame.  They were honored in a ceremony held on April 27 at Hidden Valley Adventures, Varysburg. 

Organized by the Attica Booster Club, Hall of Fame inductees are selected in recognition of contributions made to the ACS athletic program.  They can be athletes, teams, coaches, teachers, administrators, or special contributors to Attica's rich sports history.

Six commemorative plaques honoring each inductee have been installed in the high school.

Edward Almeter, Class of 1958

A four-year varsity letterman in football, three years in basketball, and two in baseball, he was a major contributor in helping the Blue Devils win multiple championships during his junior and senior years. In 1958, his athleticism did not go unnoticed as he was presented with the prestigious ACS Top Male Senior Athlete Award as voted on by the coaches. 

After attending the University of Buffalo and playing football for one season, Mr. Almeter returned to the area where he has operated his family business since 1960 and resides in Silver Springs.

Dawn Benson Sharp, Class of 1976

An 11-time varsity letter winner in basketball, softball, soccer, swimming, and volleyball and was captain of her three senior year teams.  A three-time Section V All-Star, she was a key player on both the 1974 Basketball and 1976 Volleyball teams that finished as undefeated Sectional Champions.  Her senior year culminated with a selection as a High School All-American.  

She went on to lead the Genesee Community College Cougarettes in both volleyball and basketball and was named “Athlete of the Year” and awarded the Evans Scholarship in 1978.  In NJCAA Region 3, GCC finished in second place with her as captain.  The advent of Title IX saw her become one of two female athletes to receive a full tuition scholarship to Syracuse University, where she played both basketball and volleyball.  Mrs. Sharp and her family reside in Sterling, Virginia.

Lindsey Dolan Clark, Class of 1997

During her high school years she lettered in three sports, but it was basketball that was her passion, playing three years on the varsity team.  Captain during her senior year, she led by example with hard work and dedication.  She was named to the Genesee Region League All-Star Team, the Exceptional Senior All-Star Game, the Greater Rochester Ronald McDonald All-Star Game, and the All-Greater Rochester All-Star Team. 

In addition to basketball, she played two years of varsity soccer and was selected to play in the Exceptional Senior Game. She also ran three years of varsity track.

She remains forever grateful to her family for their constant love, support, and encouragement that was so influential in high school and continues to this day.  An orthopaedic spine surgeon with UB Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, Dr. Clark and her family reside in Hamburg.

Mike Healy, Class of 1963

A four-year member of the basketball team, in his final two seasons he amassed a total of 591 points. He also played for two years as a wide receiver on the football squad. 

However, his real love was golf, which he began playing at the age thirteen.  At age 17, he became the youngest-ever golfer to win the Attica Golf Club Men’s Invitational Tournament.   

In 1964, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he remained until retirement in 1984 as a Master-Sgt. Surveyor Supervisor.  While in the service, he was a member of the U.S.A.F golf team.  From 1984 – 2004, he worked as a civilian for the Air Force as part of their National Geo-Spatial Intelligence Agency and was the recipient of numerous awards for his years of service.  Mr. Healy passed away in 2004, but will forever be remembered as an officer and a gentleman. 

Mike Mohun, Class of 1971

Recognition as a special contributor goes to this inductee.  While a student at ACS, he served as president of the junior class and Student Council and participated with many extracurricular activities including many school plays.   He graduated from Buffalo State College in 1976 and the University of Buffalo Law School in 1980, and eventually became a prominent lawyer running his own practice.  

Possessing an unselfish disposition, he has continued to help support students within the Attica district.  He was the single benefactor of school softball field scoreboard, the flagpole arrangement and military memorial on the football field, and the annual Al Feeney Scholarship Award.  For more than 20 years, he has donated his time as one of Attica’s mock trial advisors.  He's also served as a member of both Attica Booster Club and the Board of Education.  Mr. Mohun and his wife reside in Cowlesville.

1973-1977 Golf Teams 

The 1973-1977 Attica Golf Teams, under the tutelage of Coach Kellogg and Coach Kelly, presided over an era of high school sport dominance the likes of which ACS had never before experienced.  These teams steam-rolled their way through league competition, registering 77 consecutive league victories and five Genesee Region divisional titles.  Attica’s golfing prowess, during this reign, solidified the Blue Devil’s claim as one of New York State’s premier high school golf programs.
