What do you want to do to earn a living? Come and explore your options in this 20 week course. You will identify your work values, interests, aptitudes, and research different occupations. You will also examine job leads, prepare resumes, cover letters, learn job interview techniques, and partake in mock interviews. Once your occupational goal has been identified, discussion will be focused on becoming an independent adult. Learn how to handle your finances including banking, budgeting, insurance, and credit. Plan your future now and become money smart. This course will include guest speakers, projects, hands-on simulations, and technology integration.
COMPUTER APPLICATIONS/MICROSOFT OFFICE SUITE
.5 High School Credit (20 weeks)
Computer skills are not a bonus anymore; they are an EXPECTATION in the workforce and college! This half year course will explore intermediate and advanced concepts and applications using the Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Access. The Office Suite provides students with the skills necessary in today's high-tech, computer generated workforce. Regardless of your career path, students need a clear understanding of how software impacts work and how it can be used efficiently. No homework, just simple computer use to ensure you are ready for college, work, or everyday life! (.5 credit)
Students will have the ability to become Microsoft Office Specialist Certified for FREE in the following programs: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS
1 High School Credit
College Credit Available: BUS101 Principles of Business
This full year course is designed to give students a real world experience in starting and running a business. You will examine the scope of business as it relates to the global economic system. Topics include types of business ownership, management principles, the internal organization, human resource management, marketing, finance and risk management. In this course you will go on field trips to watch current up and coming entrepreneurs present their business ideas to judges. In addition speakers from Junior Achievement will come in to assist in the creation of a business plan where a competition will take place and the top students will be entered in the Junior Achievement Business Plan Challenge. Students should take this course during their first semester as a foundation for other business courses. This course may be taken for three (3) college credits from GCC.
MEDIA IN YOUR LIFE

Want to know how what you post on social media will affect you in the future? Take this 10 week course. It empowers students to think critically, behave safely and participate responsibly in our digital world. No Homework! Fun and interactive class. Topics covered include Internet safety, Privacy and Security, Relationships and Communication, Cyberbullying and Digital Drama, Digital Footprint and Reputation, Self-Image and Identity, Information Literacy and Creative Credit and Copyright.
PERSONAL FINANCE

College Credit Available: BUS110 Personal Money Management
This ½ year course will equip students with hands-on, lifelong skills including creating a financial plan for personal goals, avoiding credit trouble, saving money on every day and major purchases (auto, homes, etc.), investing in stocks, bonds and mutual funds. This course may be taken for three (3) college credits from GCC (BUS 110).

This ½ year course provides an opportunity for students to learn and adopt methods and strategies to promote personal growth and success in college and in life. A large portion of the class time will be spent on the construction of a portfolio showing how students have achieved success using these skills in high school. The portfolio will contain employment information, proof of eight college and workforce skills, and sample exemplary work from all areas. Two students will have the opportunity to interview for a potential scholarship. Topics included are: Communication, Problem Solving, Working With Others, Gathering/Managing Information, Leadership, Learning & Resource Management, Career Development, and Integrated Learning *Student must be a Junior or Senior to enroll is this class
COLLEGE 101 (10 WEEKS)

This 10 week course will give you a good overview of college and life success skills. We will focus on college applications, filling out Financial Aid, applying for scholarships, understanding award letters, comparing each college cost, learning about Federal and Private student loans and the payback process. No homework, just hands-on activities to ensure you are prepared for the college journey. If you plan to attend college then this is the class for you!
CODING

Do you want to make cool games and impressive animations? In this 10 week class you will use Scratch to learn the basics of computer coding to design and develop your own interactive art, games, animations, and multimedia stories. There is no doubt that Scratch is FUN, but it also helps you learn to think creatively, problem solve, and work collaboratively while developing computational thinking and persistence-essential skills for life in the 21st century. Scratch uses digital blocks that stack together like Legos to form animations and simulation programs. Anyone can code! Computer Science is a new type of literacy and will be a large part of future jobs.
