Medication and Illness

If a student becomes ill while in school, he or she should report to Mrs. Joose, the school nurse, who will assess what should be done. Students must not leave the building because of illness without authorization. If the nurse is not in, students should report to the main office secretary.

Taking Medication at School

Medication - is defined as any substance used for the treatment of specific health conditions, either over the counter or prescribed.

If your child requires any prescribed or over the counter medications in school, a permission form signed by the ordering doctor & parent(s) or guardian(s) must be presented to the nurse with the medication in the original container and properly labeled. All medication must be transported to and from the health office by a parent or guardian. Medication cannot be transported by a student. Any medication not picked up by the last day of school will be destroyed according to NYS Law. Please note that most pharmacies will supply extra bottles for school use at no extra charge. * If your child takes any of the following medications at home, please notify the    nurse as soon as possible: . narcotics (pain killers, or cough syrup w/ codeine), Antihistamines, Benadryl, allergy medicine, or motion sickness, pills, any medication prescribed for a chronic illness, any medication for ADD, ADHD, ODD, & OCD.
