Student-Athletes

All students interested in playing college athletics at the
Division I or II Levels must apply and submit documentation
to the NCAA Eligibility Center for review.

Eligibility Requirements

1) Students are required to complete a specific number of Core Courses completed at each level to be able to compete.  Theses are:

 DIVISION I

16 Core Courses

  • 4 Years of English

  • 3 Years of Math (Algebra or Higher)

  • 2 Years of Natural/Physical Science (1 Year of Lab)

  • 1 Year of Additional English, Mathematics, or Natural/Physical Science

  • 2 Years of Social Science

  • 4 Years of additional courses (from any area above, foreign language or non doctrinal religion/philosophy)

 DIVISION II

16 Core Courses

  • 3 Years of English

  • 2 Years of Math (Algebra or Higher)

  • 2 Years of Natural/Physical Science (1 Year of Lab)

  • 3 Years of Additional English, Mathematics, or Natural/Physical Science

  • 2 Years of Social Science

  • 3 Years of additional courses (from any area above, foreign language or non doctrinal religion/philosophy)

2) Students interested in Division I must have a GPA & SAT that is sufficient on the sliding scale.  You can access that information below in the Student Planning Guides.

Determining if you are Eligible

The NCAA specifically defines Attica Central School's Core Courses.  You can check by going to the NCAA Eligibility Center website and clicking on "List of Approved Core Courses" at the left.  On this page type in Attica's School Code '330235' and the list will come up.  Review this list with your counselor and/or parents to determine if you are eligible.

Applying for Eligibility

Step 1: Access the NCAA Eligibility Center website to review all requirements.

Step 2:  The NCAA requires that scores on the SAT/ACT come directly from those agencies.  When registering for your SAT/ACT make sure to send your scores to the NCAA by putting '9999' as one of your 4 free score reports.

Step 3: Meet with your school counselor to adjust/add course work that is required to fulfill the core course requirements.

Step 4: Create an account at the above link and complete your application and Amateurism Questionnaire.

Step 5: Submit your payment online and print out the Transcript Request Form. 

Step 6: Bring in your form to your counselor so they can submit the required documentation

Step 7: When the Final Amateurism Authorization is available.  Log in and submit your answers.
