We love seeing what our students get up to during a snow day, let alone two in a row! If you feel like sharing, send us a photo or two of how you or your student spent your time off in an email to Matt Leader, our public relations specialist, at mleader@gvboces.org. If we receive enough photos, we’ll share them in a future post. Stay warm out there, Blue Devils!

BLAST FROM THE PAST: Members of our Future Farmers of America chapter were sifting through some records down at Prospect Elementary recently when they stumbled upon an old book, “The Growing of America: 200 Years of U.S. Agriculture.” Published in 1975, the book’s dedication page listed Attica’s chapter members, officers and advisors and also noted the exact year - 1939 - that our chapter was first chartered! This information had been lost to memory as our district’s FFA chapter was rechartered in 2017. Our FFA is always looking to improve its archive and is asking any former Attica FFA members or family members that may have memorabilia from 1939 through the 1950s to reach out to Chapter Historian Olivia Bernacki at 24obernacki@students.atticacsd.org. As always, you can keep up to date with all the goings on of our FFA chapter by visiting its website at the link below. Link: https://sites.google.com/atticacsd.org/atticaffa/home?authuser=0

Kicking off the new year with our first New York Thursday of 2024! A statewide initiative, New York Thursdays highlights New York-grown and produced food items during school meals once per week. It’s intended to maximize the amount of locally produced food students have access to at school while, at the same time, saving the district money in the form of increased state aid reimbursements. Today’s New York Thursday offerings include a hot dog on a bun from Wardynski’s Meats in Buffalo and NY-grown carrots, apples and milk. Check out the accompanying image to see what else is on the menu for this month!

We stopped by Sara Lewinski’s art class this past week to check out students’ Christmas tree mosaics. We think they all turned out great, but our favorite may just have been the one decorated in “garlic” instead of “garland.”
